Ustream.com is FREE.  Sign up and you get an account.  Plug in your webcam and click a big-ole Broadcast button and you’re live.  The number of viewers you can have is … wait for it… unlimited!  You can pay for the Broadcaster Pro software which allows you to switch between cameras etc., but that’s a luxury.  We chose to do so as it also added a way for us to do some character generation… post up scores, competitor names etc.  But for a festival or wedding, one camera is good enough and the sky’s the limit.  We were also able to record each heat on their server, on their dime!

The applications are impressive.  If you’re a festival manager, use this tool to show folks what they missed.  If your a musician, put on a regularly scheduled show.

2. To add a new table enter a table name, select the number of rows and columns you want to start with and click the “Add Table” button

3. Once you have added a table you need to go in and edit it.

4. Edit cell contents by clicking on the cell and typing what you would like to have appear

5. Add or remove rows and columns by using the buttons below and to the right of the table.

6. To place in a post or page, copy the table code from the top of the table page and paste it into your page or post where you would like to have it appear.

7. Voila, your table should appear.  To edit your table simply go back to Posts / Tables and click the edit link beside the table which you wish to edit.

An extranet is a secure online area that resides on your server and with your website but only people you invite can enter and interact. If you have an OnCouRSS extranet installed with your website then this tutorial will give you the basics of how to navigate around and interact online. Note: the extranet tool works best in Internet Explorer 7 or higher.

1. Log into the extranet via your own site’s access portal.

2. Use the right sidebar to navigate to the committee that you wish to work within. From there you can select what area you want to work within ie: Documents.



3. Click “Add New Resources”



4. To upload a new document, click the “Modify” button for the document category you want to work with.

5. Click the”Add” button beside the Resources Assigned box.



6. Fill in the details about the document – browse to the file, select the file type with the drop-down and click apply.



7. To share a web url, fill that field in instead of uploading a file.

With a simple WordPress web site, they have ensured that their content is pertinent, timely and interesting.  From there they connected to a growing number of Friends via Facebook and the word of mouth process began.  Continual updates to the facebook page and the blogspot ensure that all who are subscribed to the feeds are being updated… along with their friends, and their friends… and so on.  Google provides the complex calendar they have for their month long events and Google Analytics oversees the statistical reporting on their marketing efforts as they convert to traffic.  In addition, the MM Bicycle Month folks are reaching out and involving their markets with online surveys (Survey Gizmo – a WordPress plug in) and are using a customizable forms system to track folks activities in their Community Challenge system.

Event is being held March 3rd to 6th, at the Crown Plaza in Ottawa, Ontario.

The first step was to have a place on the web where ‘ambassadors’ could log in and download event kits.  These kits gave event planners and volunteers an entire event outline in a box.  It handed them sponsors, municipal event application forms, waivers, step-by-step instructions on how to host an event and, more importantly, it gave them the marketing plan.  The marketing plan included the following:

• a web site where event managers could profile their event and list it among all others
• a web screen participants could register online for any of the events
• a system that allowed for scores to be entered for any competitive events
• a tool that allows for immediate results posting
• a blog that hosted event blogs showing the true colors of the event (text, photo, video)
• a live streaming toolset to be used to stream any event live on the web

One such event series is the Hometown Throwdowns… a grassroots whitewater series spanning the globe.  Organizers have the above mentioned tools and more and garner a growing amount of traffic to each event due to the coverage and services they provide via the system OncouRSS has developed for organizers.

We have currently finished the design phase and are in the process of populating the Board site.  This one is going to be A++!

This site was designed based on their most recent visitor guide parameters and allows visitors to post events to the calendar and to search tourism attractions by category, search word or map.

Tell Mama has some gigs coming up in April that we’re really excited about and I finally took the time on the weekend to create a facebook event to promote the first one on April 7th at The Supermarket in Toronto. I wasn’t looking forward to doing it because, at this point, it seemed that I have to create a new event for my group page and another for my band page just to get the word out to everybody. I created the group event as per usual (sure would be nice to be able to “select all” for invitations or filter the names somehow by region) and then I got quite frustrated when I tried to create a new event to post to my band page – the event function was nowhere to be found. Of course, the moment I complained on a facebook forum I immediately found the feature as an addition to the tabs at the top of the page – how embarrassing is that?

I cannot tell you how happy I was to see that the event I created on the band page could both be sent to everybody on my personal profile and then sent as an attachment to all the members of my band page – the one stop shopping I have been looking for! Now, I did this backwards cause I created my group event first so the next one I create for our gig at Ben’s Pub on the 11th I will start with the band page and see how that goes but I am certainly remaining quietly excited on this one. Anything that helps me to save time mucking around is awesome in my book.
